History

Emmanuel Baptist Mission Church held its first worship service in November 1994 at a sponsoring church called "Highland Park Baptist Church" in Conyers, Georgia, pastored by Rev. Mackie Hawkins.  Pastor Lamonte Scott began the mission church.  Pastor Scott and his family served Emmanuel faithfully for nine years.

Upon Pastor Scott's resignation in November 2003, Rev. Eric Suddith was called to Emmanuel to do a "replant" of the mission church.  The church was restarted with 13 core members.  Soon, that number increased to 22 adult members.

Pastor Suddith received his charge from God and began a new Kingdom building vision at 1400 Hwy 212.  By the grace of God, within three months, Pastor Suddith led the Emmanuel membership from a $0 balanced building fund to a balance of over $230,000.00.  Three months later, Emmanuel was able to secure a bank loan and break ground exactly six months after Pastor Suddith's installation at Emmanuel.  Pastor Suddith was installed on January 11, 2004.  Emmanuel held a groundbreaking ceremony on July 11, 2004.  Pastor Suddith vigorously pursued God's will and purpose for the building of God's church, and by much grace, and much payer by the Emmanuel Church Family, God sent a godly contractor by the name of Clarence Hall of Hall Construction Company, and a wise Kingdom Builder by the name of Ray Bridges, over 400 volunteers from May 2005 thru August 2005 to build an edifice for the Emmanuel mission church.  The Emmanuel members have also, all been a part of the building of this House of God.

Dr. Suddith acknowledges completely the hand of God at work, and began his teaching ministry on "Building from the Inside Out" with two Bible study series on the "Power of Prayer" and "The Principles of Faith."  This series was followed up by, "The Essence of Kingdom Building."

In January 2005, the Emmanuel family left Highland Park Baptist Church after ten years and transitioned into the community by establishing temporary residence at Lorraines Elementary School while the new edifice was being built.  Right before this transitional move into the community, Pastor Suddith and the mission church, previously known as the Emmanuel Baptist Church, decided to adopt a new name "The Emmanuel Community Church."  While at Lorraine, Pastor Suddith continued to emphasize and teach the Emmanuel membership about the power of prayer and God answered by sending to the fellowship "such that should be saved."  The Emmanuel Community Church is the very first African-American church in the Georgia Baptist Convention to be built by volunteer labor in the state Georgia.  The membership is growing bountifully.  During the time at the school, our attendance grew 35 to over 150 each Sunday.  We lift up holy hands in awe of our marvelous God for the great things He has done and is doing for Emmanuel, the "God With Us Church."Suddith holds a Bachelor's degree in Business and later earned a Master's degree in Business. He has studied at the Wake Forest University MBA Executive Program, Moscow State University in the former Soviet Union, Postgraduate studies at the University of Pennsylvania Wharton Business School, University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Engineering, as well as the New Brunswick Theological Seminary. He is currently a candidate for the Doctorate degree in Theology from Trinity Theological Seminary.
